WANTED: COMMITTED, HARD WORKING, AMBITIOUS REPORTERS

At News Associates we take pride in our students achievements.

Nothing gives our team of tutors and journalists more satisfaction than hearing a graduate has landed their first job, their first front page or their first dream assignment.

Unless they've beaten us to the story - that ruins any friendship!

We only teach journalism - you won't be competing with pottery classes - which means we remain focussed only the job that matters - getting you to pass and into this exciting rollercoaster industry.

We think we're great but good journalists are taught never to believe what they are told.

Here's what some of former students think - if you want to stand their stories up let us know and we'll pass on their details.

"The only way to survive this course is to live it and breath it.
"Shorthand is a tough nut to crack but if you put the work in then you will reap the rewards.
"You just have to work like a dog and never give up. I hit the 100 words per minute needed but I was transcribing everything from billboards to TV programmes It's already an invaluable skill for me."

Nadia Mendoza, who left us to join The Sun

"One of the things that attracted me to this course was the idea that a real, working journalist would be there to give me advice when I needed it. I've already helped them out and building your portfolio is the best way to get a job."

Pippa Davis, who left us to join British Eurosport

"Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a journalist. I have always had a passion for writing and I'm nosey by nature so it made sense really.
"This course has only given me a thirst for more. I get such a buzz from opening a newspaper and seeing an article that I have written, especially when I've put all my time and energy into it."

Lauren Margrave, who left us to join the Surrey Herald (Trinity South)

"I wanted to break into a career in journalism without taking a year out to study, so the Sportsbeat/News Associates fast-track course was an obvious choice.
"It is fast-paced and challenging, but the skills I have picked up have proved invaluable in the workplace. I am now a more confident writer and I'm in stronger position than those in my office who do not have my qualifications. The work placement scheme was a big factor in choosing the course, and has led to my first job."

Ryan Bailey, who left us to join FHM

"The enthusiasm from the Sportsbeat tutors is infectious and they do everything they can to help you succeed. You only get out what you put into an intensive course like this but the sense of achievement at the end is huge.
"I left Sportsbeat feeling well equipped to launch my journalism career and will be able to call on much of what I learned during the course as I progress."

Danny Coyle, who left us to join International Rugby News

"This course gave me the opportunity to achieve something that six months previously seemed impossible. I left a well-paid but unfulfilling job so it was a big gamble but one that definitely paid off."

Richard Pain, who left us to join the Surrey Advertiser

"The course tutors and mentors are always available to offer help and advice when you need it and they provide a great atmosphere to work and study in.  Their different backgrounds compliment each other very well and you learn a lot from them.  Although the course is fun the work is hard and you have to really immerse yourself and throw everything into it but the rewards are definitely worthwhile."

Graham Moody, who left us to join the Croydon Guardian
