Internet marketing tends to go through stages, fads and one of those is publishing, PR on some of the online newspaper sites.
Due to the newspapers losing out in advertising revenue to search engines like Google and Yahoo, some of them decided to monetize their online asset to marketing companies for themed back links. This spawned a few companies dedicated to finding sources and utilising the high page ranking newspaper sites. The business model is based on finding other SEO marketing companies to publish articles or choose article pages in which to place links for their client. No surprise that the price of this so called advertising was rather on the high end, £150 per published article/link.
So is this grey hat SEO? If so has Google down graded the once upon a time link from these types of high authority sites. Who knows, lets wait and find out!!
